Travel within the UK that takes place fully in compliance with any restrictions of either national governments or transport system operators is allowed, provided that the activity cannot take place via any other route e.g. online meeting, online attendance at conferences, etc. International travel will continue to be subject to journey specific risk assessment and approval from Faculty PVCs/CRO/COO as currently (see Overseas working guidelines for managers (uea.ac.uk)). With the fluidity of the government’s “traffic light” system for international travel it is hard to predict the status of any particular country and our travel insurance no longer provides COVID related cancellation cover. As a general rule, travel will only be approved for green and amber countries and we would generally anticipate the following to apply:
Note that new government international travel rules will take effect from Monday 4th October with a move to a single red list of countries and the rules for travel from a non-red list country will depend on an individual’s vaccination status.
