The Government has extended COVID-19 lockdown restrictions by four weeks until Monday 19 July. This means that the current rules on working from home, where possible, will remain. Those who need to be on campus to provide in person teaching/supervision, essential support to students and staff or essential research will continue to do so. Safety measures on campus such as social distancing, wearing face coverings, unless exempt, washing hands regularly, and following the one-way system remain in place.
Colleagues are also reminded that indoor social gatherings such as end of semester/end of year drinks are restricted to the Government limits on social gatherings that are currently six individuals or two households. If you are planning an event that meets these rules, then 2m social distancing (with people you do not live with) is still required, as is a risk assessment and a face covering as per the University's Face Covering Policy.
Where possible you should look to host events outdoors where a limit of up to 30 individuals applies for social gatherings. People attending these gathering must still socially distance and the event must be risk assessed. For guidance on risk assessments and a general template, please see the Covid-19 Manager’s Toolkit.
Once restrictions have eased the expectation is that “hybrid” working will become the norm for many staff as the University continues to work through its Campus Development Programme (CDP).
Those that need to be on campus will continue to so, but others should continue to work from home unless notified by their Heads of Professional Services or School that they need to return. This will give the CDP project team time to continue engaging with departments and faculties to determine future plans. This position will continue until at least the end of August when there will be a further staff update. Please read the full message on future ways of working from Helen Wiseman, Director of People and Culture from earlier this month.
Annual increments for those on Grade 8 or above will be reinstated from 1 August 2021. Affected staff will see benefits in their July pay.
