If you have a disability, long term illness, or an injury that adversely affects your ability to complete an exam or other timed assessment, there are a range of assessment adjustment concessions potentially available
to you. These can include additional time for an exam, rest breaks, use of a small room, use of a computer or scribe, for example.
To be eligible for Assessment Adjustments (AA) you will have a disability
as defined by the Equality Act 2010 and medical evidence which you can provide to Student Services detailing your diagnosis. This can include physical and sensory disabilities, long term
health conditions and mental illnesses. Adjustments can also be made for some temporary disabilities such as injuries.
Adjustments can also be provided for students with, or suspecting, a Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD). You will need to provide a full diagnostic report conducted by an appropriately
qualified assessor, a full screening report indicating likelihood of an SpLD, or a formal report indicating history of need and Access Arrangements from your School, such as a Form 8.
If you are a continuing student or have previously contacted Student Services in relation to AAs you can check what has already been put in place by looking at your e:Vision record:
- You can view your disability record(s) by clicking the Personal and Course Details link.
- Scroll down the screen to find Disability Records, Assessment Adjustment and Reasonable Adjustments.
You must also ensure you’ve completed the
Confidentiality and Disclosure Task within e:Vision (please see pages 1-2 of the attached guide), otherwise your adjustments will not be visible to LTS Staff.
If you feel you are eligible for an assessment adjustment but have not yet arranged these, please contact disability@uea.ac.uk,
with accompanying evidence, no later than the shown dates below:
Assessment period |
Student deadline to apply via Student Services |
20 May – 14 June 2024 |
22 March 2024 |
12-23 August 2024 |
15 July 2024 |
Ad-hoc (HSC and MED) |
3 weeks prior to exam |
Please note that we cannot guarantee that adjustments will be put in place in time for the relevant Assessment Period exam(s) if applications are received after the stated deadlines.
Note – if you had Assessment Adjustments as an Undergraduate student and have now returned to study a Postgraduate course, please check your adjustments are still in place as in some cases these will not automatically
be carried across to your new student record. Please contact Student Services to arrange to rediscuss your Assessment Adjustments if this is the case.
If you already have AAs in place and have completed the consent task in e:vision you do not need to contact Student Services again.
