It is rollover time and, as usual, a new Blackboard module has been created for each module being delivered in the next academic year (modules in eVision).
This article provides important information about your access, changes, and new features. As always, a great starting point is the Preparing for Start of Year webpage.
Key points:
• Blackboard file size upload limit for video will be set at 50mb
• Collaborate recordings made before August 2022 will be removed on 1 August 2024
• Access resources and training for the continued Blackboard Ultra roll out
• Summer training sessions.
If you have any queries or would like to speak with a Learning Technologist for advice, please get in touch.
Access to 2024/25 modules
Module organisers will be automatically enrolled on their Blackboard modules (excluding HSC & MED) before the end of May. Use the Start of Year Checklist to enrol colleagues and get your Blackboard module ready for next year.
Preparing for 2024/25 - Learning Technology Training sessions
To help you feel prepared for the 2024/25 academic year, a range of training sessions are being offered, focusing on different aspects of learning technology over summer. These sessions will be held in-person on 19 and 27 August, and 4 and 12 September. The same sessions will be repeated on multiple days, giving you several opportunities to attend.
Resources for Blackboard Ultra
Schools have decided how they will manage the migration of their courses to Blackboard Ultra. Most Schools opted to take first and foundation year modules onto Blackboard Ultra for the 2023/24 academic year. For 20the 24/25 academic year, the remaining UG and PGT modules have additionally been created in Blackboard Ultra.
Check with your Teaching Director if you are unsure about the plan for your School for 2024/25. If you would like to find out more about Blackboard Ultra, attend training sessions and gain access to resources, please complete the Ultra resources request form.
Blackboard file size upload limit
To ensure the best experience for students, we recommend uploading videos to the streaming video solution – Planet eStream – and not directly to Blackboard. To support this, last year a 250mb maximum file size limit for Blackboard was introduced; this will be updated in August 2024 to prevent video files larger than 50mb being uploaded directly to Blackboard, with the file limit for other files (any files other than videos) remaining at 250mb.
Collaborate recordings retention
UEA’s Lecture Capture policy allows you to keep captures for two years after the end of their live delivery year, which means that Collaborate recordings made before August 2022 will be deleted on 1 August 2024.
If you would prefer to keep your captures, please transfer them to eStream.

Online reading lists
Talis online reading lists have been rolled over for the new academic year. These rolled over reading lists will need to be linked to Blackboard and may need to be updated with any changes in learning resources used.
