To ensure the Library can get any new books/resources required for the start of teaching in September 2024, new and existing reading lists will need to be published by by Wednesday 31 July 2024. There will then be sufficient time for the Library to review both ‘Core’ and ‘Further’ reading items on those lists.
You can find instructions for updating your reading list on the Reading Lists Support pages, or simply follow the instructions below. Email Lib.Reading@uea.ac.uk if you get stuck and they will get straight back to you.
1. Visit the UEA Talis homepage and log in.
2. Search for the module(s) you are teaching via the search bar. You can search by module code or module name. Make sure the reading list has (2024/25) after its title.
3. Click through to your reading list, and make sure you are listed as the list owner. (If you are not, go to Edit > Assign List Owner.)
4. You can add the reading list to your “My Lists” page on Talis by clicking the “+ My Lists” button in the top right corner.
5. Review the items on your reading list, and make any changes needed for the 2024/25 content of your course, moving to online content where possible for your key readings. If you’re uncertain on how to edit or add items to a reading list, there are a range of support materials on the Reading Lists Support pages, or you can contact Lib.Reading@uea.ac.uk to organise a training session.
If you would like guidance on discovering and selecting titles to decolonise your reading list, please look at the Library Decolonisation Guide or contact your Academic Librarian.
6. Once you’re happy the list is up to date, click the Publish button in the yellow bar at the top of your reading list. Please note that if you haven’t made any changes to a published reading list, this button will not appear as it is already published.
Can’t remember what needs checking?
- Please be aware that students may be planning to purchase material for forthcoming modules based on this reading list, so please update your reading list with any required changes as soon as possible. Because rolled over lists are live, if you anticipate significant changes or a delay in updating it, it is recommended to email the Library at Lib.Reading@uea.ac.uk.
- Please check key readings on your Talis lists and where possible replace with online alternatives (e-books, articles, etc.). Where only part of the book is needed, you can request scans from print only books. Please talk to your academic librarian to explore options available for your key readings.
- If you are aware of any modules that will no longer be running in the 2024/25 academic year, please contact the Library at Lib.Reading@uea.ac.uk and they will archive the associated lists for you.
- These actions will ensure that students are reading the right materials for the 2024/25 academic year, rather than relying on the 2023/24 reading lists.
